Fillers

Over time your face may lose its structural support and display visible signs of ageing. Your skin can feel tired, form wrinkles, and make you look older than you are. Our doctors and nurses here at the Royal Wharf Clinic are expertly trained to provide Juvederm and Profhilo dermal filler treatments to restore facial volume and create natural facial contours to accentuate your beauty.

Fillers

Dermal fillers are small injections of gel designed to revitalise and rejuvenate the skin and produce a natural, youthful appearance. Unlike previous particle-based fillers, Juvederm filler contains hyaluronic acid – a substance found in the skin. It helps stimulate collagen production, improve tone, and restore volume to the targeted areas. The manufacturers of Juvederm have formulated the product using lidocaine to minimise discomfort associated with treatment.

We also use a lighter filler called Profhilo for those wanting a more subtle result. This product is also hyaluronic acid-based and can be used to correct uneven, rough skin textures by promoting skin hydration and improving skin laxity.

The resultant plumpness and definition visibly improve the areas you’re dissatisfied with and leave you with naturally radiant, younger-looking skin. Our doctors and nurses will carefully tailor your treatment to match your distinct features whilst keeping in line with your natural beauty. NEED TO KNOW

Dermal fillers can improve a variety of aesthetic concerns and imperfections. Our practitioners are trained to work around the natural contours of the face to accentuate your underlying beauty while avoiding a ‘plastic-like’ effect. The products we use, Juvederm and Profhilo, have proven longevity that provides longer-lasting results. Below, we’ve summarised a concise need-to-know list of things to consider before opting for treatment: What will it feel like? - Our staff dedicates itself to providing you with the most comfortable, professional treatments. We will guide you through the process to make you feel at ease. If you’re afraid of or sensitive to pain, we can provide a topic anaesthetic to help ease discomfort. The filler is injected using a fine needle which some people may describe as a pinch. Each session will take approximately 15-20 minutes and will vary in length depending on the number of sites you wish to be treated. We use a range of products - Juvederm is the brand name for a range of products manufactured to target specific areas of the face. The treatment has been FDA-approved since 2006 and is renowned for its minimal side effect profile. Our qualified nurses and doctors will go through with you in detail the best product for your desired outcome. You can top up periodically throughout the year - dermal fillers are proven to provide results for 3 - 12 months. In some cases, a series of injections can optimise results and extend the time during which they’re effective. Our team will happily book you in for a follow-up consultation and top-up appointment at your request.
If you’re considering Juvederm or Profhilo treatment, it’s a good idea to schedule a consultation with a member of our team. This consult will help you outline your goals, express your expectations, and give you the opportunity to voice any questions or concerns you may have regarding treatment.

During your consultation, our consultant will explain to you in detail the dermal filler process, including how we mark the targetted areas, our method of administration, and describe the potential side effects of the treatment. You can ask to view any before and after images from previous clients to help give you an idea of what to expect and allow you to feel comfortable with us being your aesthetic practice of choice.

Once happy, we’ll ask you to register on our system that complies with GDPR and HIPAA regulations. You’ll be required to fill out a consent form and any additional supporting documents to verify your eligibility before booking you in for your first appointment.
Dermal fillers are usually well-tolerated, with most people being able to get back to work and regular activities straight after treatment. Our staff are expertly trained to administer the fillers to minimise discomfort and produce little to no side effects. However, some people who may be sensitive to the product, or have sensitive skin, may react to filler treatments in the following ways:

• Injection-site tenderness - the injection site may be raised, red, itchy, or tender following administration. These tend to resolve within a couple of days. Bruising may occur if blood vessels are damaged; however, this is normal and should not be of concern. Patients are welcome to contact the clinic.

More serious complications are very rare and typically associated with unprofessional handling, such as poor injection technique and inadequate sterilisation of the treatment site.

Dermal filler treatment may be unsuitable for some people depending on their health status or physical features. The main contraindications to Juvederm and Profhilo are:

• Active infection near the site of treatment - if you currently have an infected skin lesion or generalised infection near or on the site of treatment, we’ll ask you to wait until it is resolved before pursuing the process.

• Known allergy or hypersensitivity - we won’t be able to administer Juvederm or Profhilo if you have a known allergy to any of the ingredients.

RECOVERY

One of the biggest benefits of our filler treatments relates to its minimally-invasive nature. Our Juvederm and Profhilo treatments are quick, gentle, and associated with virtually zero downtime. You can resume your regular activity schedule and drive immediately after treatment. However, we do recommend you avoid direct exposure to sunlight, wearing make-up, consuming alcohol, and doing any heavy lifting until the next day.

Any bruising or tenderness you may feel following injection is normal and typically resolves within 24 – 72 hours. If you develop any complications or infection, contact us at your earliest convenience by phone, video call, or visit our clinic, so that we can get you treated immediately.

FAQ

Below you can find answers to the most frequently asked questions surrounding fillers.
Dermal fillers are suitable for both men and women who wish to reduce or postpone the signs of ageing. Ideal candidates are those who are physically healthy, do not smoke, and have realistic expectations in mind.
Fillers work by adding volume to the facial tissue. The active ingredient of Juvederm and Profgilo, hyaluronic acid, binds to water in order to hydrate the skin and give it a smoother, younger appearance.
Juvederm filler lasts for around 9-12 months, depending on your surrounding environments, such as exposure to sunshine and smoking. Profhilo treatments last for a little less time but can still produce results for up to 4 months.
Juvederm and Profhilo can be used to treat a number of areas including:
• Cheeks
• Chin
• Tear trough
• Lips
• Neck
• Chest
• Hands
Juvederm and Profhilo dermal fillers work in a way that allows your face to naturally restore its volume by topping up its hyaluronic acid reserve. Botox alters the communication between nerve signals to prevent facial muscles from contracting.
